Natural Horse Supplements

Now, I know that a lot of people give their horses supplements and spend a lot of money on them. But I figured that there has to be a better and cheaper way of helping your horse.

There has to be some natural horse supplements that you can just pick up at your local grocery store and stick in their feed.

So, what are your natural horse supplements? Please share!

Bump!!

Garlic (for immune booster, and also aids in deterring mosquitoes)
Gelatin (for strong hooves)
Baking Soda (helps w digestion, and acts a a Pro Biotic)
Chamomile (as a calming aid)

Garlic might cause anemia in horses, I don't think its been solidly proven at this point though.

I have given my horses garlic powder for years, and have never had any issues w horse being anemic? Now I use the grandule type, not minced or the stuff w salt.

Also my vet was the one that suggested baking soda. Says it helps to level out any acidity in a horses gut.

How much garlic? We have mutant mosquitos that drive my poor gelding insane. I am looking for anything to help him out this summer.

I heard garlic does help with insect control too, like with their feces and when they excrete it when they sweat, though I don't really know If I want a garlicy horse lol.

Lol they don't smell garlicy.

Another natural supplement I use is Tumeric..it helps relieve arthritits symptoms much like glucosomine and msm. Now it has a distinct smell and a picky horse wouldn't eat it, but my older gelding eats it no problem, but he is wierd lol
