Question about peppermints

Don't feel alone- my horse loves all food. Black licorice, apple, carrot, bread, pears, etc, but HATES peppermint. Go figure!

My horse won't eat just the mints either, but I make homemade horse treats with crushed peppermints, apples, oats, and molasses and she loves those. Come to think of it I haven't found a horse at the barn that won't eat those.

Bandit loves mints.. I give him whatever ones are closest to me at the till in the shop :P I personally like to give him spearmint flavour polos... one for me, one for Bandit, one for me, one for Bandit.

When we first got Simba he wouldn't look at them and spit them out. THEN he saw Bandit eatting them and all of a sudden he decided he'd try them and now loves them as well.

I'm guilty of stealing mints from restaraunts. Yesterday we went out for Mexican and my sister stuffed three handfuls in her purse for the horses.

My horses are huge pepperment fans!
They also really love those fruit flavoured hard candies - peach and strawberry being the favourites, with grape and watermelon right behind.
Anyone know where I could buy those? I always stole them from the front desks of hotels... LOL

In the past I have used tic tacs as treats as well. Those little plastic things they come in are very rattly and are great attention getters when my voice is being ignored. Unfortunately none of my current horses are impressed with tic tacs.
