Question on bagged forage

I have a young Rocky Mountain that is not only an extremely easy keeper, he has also choked at least twice, once on grain, once on soaked pellets.

At the moment, he's fed mostly hay (pasture is in winter drudge), but also gets a quart of Timothy Balance cubes to hide his vitamin/mineral supplement and Bugcheck. Because of the choke and the fact these are cubes, I thoroughly soak his meals. This is a bit of a pain, as they have to soak for quite a while, so I essentially soak for hours in the fridge.

I'm considering switching him to bagged forage, like Triple Crown Safe Starch, but I've never fed the stuff before so don't know much about it. Does it hold supplements well? Does it hold them well if wet? Is it safe for horses that have choked? Pros and cons?

Green Broke
Are your balance cubes the Ontario Dehy cubes that Triple Crown sells?

A friend of mine has a 5 yo TWH who is also an easy keeper and also tends to choke.

She had him on the TCLS but switched to the Ontario Dehy cubes. If I remember correctly, I think her TWH also had choked on the TCLS. She has all of her horses on the hay cubes and soaks them about 30 minutes ahead.

Short of feeding your fella 3 - 4 small meals daily (and you would still have to soak the cubes), I'm not sure there's anyway to get out of soaking, including the pellets.

Wish I had something better to offer that would cut your time down
