Rapeseed Oil vs Carron Oil?

Does anybody have experience with Rapeseed Oil vs Carron oil to help with the coat?

Our first show of the year is coming up in about 6 weeks. Nod arrived with us mid Feb, and while her coat has come on leaps and bounds, I want to add something to her feed to bring it on more.

I've used Carron oil for the last several years, but wondering if anybody has experience with rapeseed oil and how they found it?

I just looked up Carron oil and it's a topical for burns. Were you feeding it or wiping it on? Many in North America add vegetable oil as a weight gainer. Flax, which is processed in to linseed oil for paint, is good for the coat. You can buy it in either powdered form or buy the seeds and bring 1/4 cup to the boil then let cool.

I feed it. Carron oil is a very common additive to the feed over here, I tend to stick with Curragh Carron oil although there are other makes - some spell it Karron oil.

I'm curious as I've seen a bit of advertising at the moment for rapeseed oil, which looks to be very affordable. I just didn't know if anybody have good experiences with it. I'd rather stick to what I know, and something that I know will benefit my horse, compared to something I haven't dealt with before unless I heard differently from some of the more knowledgable HF members :)

Is the rapeseed oil the same as canola? Or similar to it?
