Supplement Help

I am hoping that someone can give me some input as to a good immune boosting-multivitamin-multimineral supplement for my horse.

He is currently coming back into work and is on a mostly alfalfa hay (which has been upped with the increased work load). The only grain he gets is a small amount of sweet feed in the morning, to mix his slippery elm with, and a small amount at night, along with 3 large carrots chopped, to go in his jolly ball (keeps him busy at night).

He has some sort of skin condition, which I have a previous post addressing, so I'm looking for something high in vitamin A that is cost effective.

Any tips and/or input is greatly appreciated.

A good, balanced diet is the best immune support, unless your horse has a particular need for additional support beyond that. I'd look into a quality ration balancer or vit/min formulated for an alfalfa diet.

Perhaps something like ADM StayStrong would work well- it's high in vit A and only 10% protein. I don't have this available in my area, but it looks like it could be a good fit for your horse if you can get it.

Otherwise, SmartPak's SmartVites are prety good, and they have a few alfalfa formulations to pick from.
