supplements, supplements, supplements!!

I have an 8 year old morgan/arab gelding. He's a little on the round side and he's currently on Legends feed (11% protein)

I just bought him nu-image hoof and coat supplement today and i've been adding extra biotin and canola oil to it.

I have recently heard that adding a small amount of black oil sunflower seeds will also add a shine to his coat.
Any thoughts?

I have heard that too. I think the idea is that the oil in them makes the coat shiny and the black pigment from the shells helps to keep black horses from bleaching in the sun. I have never tried them though, I have no idea if it works or not!

To me though, it sounds like what you are already feeding your horse should be more than enough to make your horse super shiny! The canola oil will help, but certainly a supplement directed specifically at the coat should help. I would wait a month or so and see what the results are before adding something else, or you might start to see your reflection on your horse! XD
