Total Equine Feed

I have a boarder with a 6 y/o paint gelding. 950 -1000 lbs. Medium Keeper. He is on good pasture 24/7 with free access to salt/minerals. Light work. A few of their friends recommended Total Equine Feed. I personally don't think it's the right feed for them but I wanted to compile other opinions for them.

With corn as the second ingredient I wouldn't touch it

Peggysue go read their website.. Total Equine Quality Horse Feed

They actually advertise that some low quality roughage is actually good for the horse because it slows digestion... lol

I'm not a big fan of feeds with corn or "roughage products."

If he keeps his weight up fine with pasture when riding light, then if you have him in work, I'd put him on a ration balancer type feed or a overall supplement mixed in with some alfalfa or timothy hay pellets.

Corn is not roughage at alll.. it is a high sugar.starch grain which horses have a problem digesting to begin with ...

I know that Peggy... Keep reading down the ingredient list. It says "roughage products." I don't like anything that vague in my horses' feed.
