I was always told if you want to fatten up a horse feed something with beet pulp or rice bran in it.

We use the cinch chix. On my phone so I can't post links right now but I will later. They work great. Honestly the only waste we have are the small dusty particles that fall out, which you don't want your horses eating that anyway.

The coughs went away once the nets were on.

If that's all you have available, yes I would switch. Your horses would probably benefit from a ration balancer instead. Purina makes one, I will find a link here soon.

If you can't get it the horsemans edge is still better than the all livestock feed.
