Zimectrin Gold or Quest Plus

My horses get wormed every two months with either Ivermectin or Pyrantel Pamoate but somebody suggested I need to worm with either Zimectrin Gold or Quest Plus for tapeworms. Just wondering if one is better and/or safer than the other?

Zimectrin Gold is a form of Ivermectin and is good for killing tapeworms. Quest is a different class of wormer and in recent years has been supposedly losing it's effectiveness. I'd go with the Gold if your goal is tapeworms.

You just have to see your distance...you don't have to like it.

Both treat tapeworms. I'd use the Quest because it also targets the encysted strongyles a group that is not addressed with the gold or any other product you use.

I'd suggest Equimax wormer. It is the same ingredients as Zimecterin Gold but its really safe, can use it on babies, pregnant mares .. its the only tapeworm control with that wide a safety margin. Pfizer use to make. Its apple flavored too, that helps. My vet has us deworming for tapeworms 2x a year, spring and fall.
