Akhal teke farm visit

Just thought I'd share some of the photos I took when I ventured out to an Akhal teke farm a week or so ago. The stallion Thor shown in the pictures is the sire of the purebred Akhal teke filly I ride named Hoanna. The mare with the newborn perlino filly is Hoanna's dam Hoga.

Thanks! Akhal tekes are normally on the thin side. The colt is currently growing up like a weed and not filling not. Trust me, his breeder is shoveling grain into him like there is no tomorrow! They tend to go through a very awkward stage when they are growing. The mare meanwhile has major muscle atrophy alone her topline. I can't remember why but I know he rescued the mare from a different breeding farm in Texas years ago.

Oh and to make things clear the only picture of the stallion is in my second post, the second to last picture. The really beefy buckskin is the stallion. The first picture in my first post is of the 2 year old colt. The rest are mares and fillies.

I've heard Akhal-Tekes are worse to keep weight on than TBs, so they don't look bad to me!

Beautiful horses!
