kinda, right against the road is a couple of apartment complexes, but all behind those and across the street is just private houses, some with land, some without. Down the street is the rodeo grounds, and they try to make the whole city look like its "old west". But one street over, is the ever industrial ft. Lauderdale.
Well, somebody went to our rodeo grounds and brought back the flu. A couple of our boarders called a vet, then proceded to tell everybody she said that if you don't treat your horse it'll die, an dits bound to get sick, and the whole place needs to be on quarantine, even the horses who have had their vacinations cause this virus is like SUPER bad.
I had a different vet come out last night. She looked at a couple of the sick horses, did a nasal swab, and told me it was the flu, plain and simple. If yuor horse is vaccinated they probably wont get it, but if they do, its ten days worth of antibiotics and that's it. A young horse could even fight it off like a cold.
So the debate is whether the vet lied, or the boarders did. Either way, annie has been vaccinated, so im going to continue to ride (since she's finally healthy!!!!!!" until she shows a problem.
