    Another rescue mare...

This sweet girl is "Valentine" - a red roan QH mare - She and another mare were rescued January of 2009, The other mare is with a friend (Painteddreamfarm) here on the forum.
Valentine's weight is down but not terrible, however she was very dehydrated when we picked the mares up and her coat is in terrible condition having rain rot, missing clumps of hair, its dull, shaggy and gross! In addition the "small" size halters were left on these mares as tight as they could go, both have permanent marks and bald spots on there noses where the halters started to grow in.
It shouldn't be too long for her to be back up to weight so we can start riding and conditioning her though she is thinner than she looks, her hair hides a lot. A bath would help but January in Michigan isn't going to allow that!
    Here she is....

I would almost say that she has some Arabian blood in her.

I was going to say that too from her head. She's cute though!

She looks she is quite the stunner. Once she goes back to her weight and her coat comes back in shape, she is going to be a really pretty girl. Her head does look very arabian-ish to me to. Good Luck!

Poor girl - the halter marks make me cringe. Hope she gets feeling better soon! What a blessing for her that you got her.

She is very sweet and patient, Nice personality.. I already love her to pieces. She calls a loud greeting to any person she happens to see (Even someone jogging down the road!)

I do believe you are right, we were thinking Quarter/Arabian cross of some sort with her head, eyes and slightly more refined build.

She is deffinitly sweet... If I was her and someone jumped on my back when I was that skinny I would be quiet upset...But she just stood there while I sat on her ( tetertotering from how skinny she is ) bareback no reins or nothing. She is going to be great. Feel bad for seperating them though...

To me, her face doesn't really look arabian... the dish is too low. Reminds me of the old cultures where people would put rings on their necks, bind their feet, wrap skulls, etc. and deform the bones... scarey thought, but I wonder?
