Baby Fiona is 4 months old!!

And growing like crazy! Her mom Freyja has already started weaning her, she only nurses 2 times a day now. I notice in the pasture she spends much more time hanging around with big brother Finn than she does standing with her mom anymore.

She's 13.3 HH, and finally starting to grow a decent mane and tail! Like Finn, she seems to have inherited Freyja's pretty head, I'm glad for that one! (although she hasn't grown into it yet, or her ears!) She finally shed out mostly all over into the same dark liver chestnut Finn is (although she was just hosed off in these pictures so looks darker, for all of you who want to insist she is black)

Haha yeah she's a real big girl - if string test is in any way accurate with her (which I have my doubts on) she will mature 19 HH. I don't think she will though, I expect her to be probably just under 18 HH. She's 3/4 Shire draft, 1/4 Paint.

Payette, thanks!

OK...so which one are you ready to get rid of??? I don't care if it's Finn, Fiona, or Freyja. I'll have the trailer connected to the truck and be on my way before you have a chance to blink!!!

Charlii, none at this point! lol. Finn is my boy, my pride and joy, I'll never let him go. Fiona I'm still not 100% sure I'll keep, leaning towards it, but if I did part with her it will be after she is matured and broke. And I promised Freyja when I got her that she will always have a home with me, with no more making babies, and she has turned around and finally got sound for me, been riding her all summer which has been wonderful!

Charlii, thanks :)

I go out this morning, and the little booger is covered head to toe in dirt and cockleburrs. She was showing me exactly what she thought of her bath yesterday! lol

Indy, she's so cute! But I'm saddened by the fact that my Paint yearling is only a little bit taller then her. =( If only I could have a draft baby my life would be complete. =D

To see the wind's power, the rain's cleansing, and the sun's radiant life, one need only to look at the horse.

Roughrider, lol Fiona is a mutant, I swear. Finn, at her age, was only about 10 HH. He didn't hit 13 HH until he was 7 months old! Now, at 15 months he is 15.2 HH. I guess Finn was smaller because Freyja was starved during her pregnancy with him before I got her, but I wouldn't have expected Fiona to be QUITE so huge. She's godzilla baby Their sire is 18.2 and Freyja is only 15.3, so I don't know where all the height is coming from lol but they both seem determined to be as tall or even taller than their sire!
