So, Caly is clearly NOT NEW to the Horse Forum, but I was updating Rebel's "Horse Pictures" page with some new pics and vids and realized I really need one for Caly, too. For those of you who haven't met my special, dearly loved girl, I'll give you a run-down on this post and then I'll start going nuts with the pics and videos (I know there's another thread specifically for videos, but is it alright if I put them here instead? To keep all her stuff together?).
Name: Calypso (APHA registered name- Powdered Patches)
Age: 9 years
Height: 15.3 hh
Weight: Will have to check... Haven't weighed her in a while!
Pattern: Registered as TOB/OVR... I've asked around and people are saying
they think she looks like she has Splash, possibly with Frame, and a
small chance of also being Sabino. I'm no color expert, though!
Discipline: Mostly just for fun trail-riding and such... Mostly Western. I
want to try her English at some point, though... She's got a floaty trot
that I think would look great in low-level English stuff!
Showing: We haven't gotten this far yet. With moving out of state and buying a house and such, my time/income has been preoccupied. But I hope to start doing the "for fun" local shows. I'd like to try Halter, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Trail, and the gaming stuff like Barrels, Poles, and Flags. We've messed around with Barrels and Poles and this lady is FAST! And turns on a dime.
Ok, I promise to stop gushing and start posting pics and vids after this one additional announcement:
Because Caly is such a sweet, intelligent-minded, athletic, well-built horse, I decided that she would be the one that I get to live out my dream with (raising a foal from planning stages to breeding, then on up into adulthood and keeping it its entire life). I have put extreme amounts of thought and planning into this expedition, and I know the costs and risks. My husband and I have been planning to breed Caly for a while now, and we selected a stud back at the end of February. Then, to our surprise, the owner of the stud (QTs Gold Mastercard) decided to have a contest for a free stud fee on Facebook! We worked SUPER hard to get the word out and get the votes in, and I came to my Horse Forum clan and asked for your help as well, and... WE WON!!!!! Definitely wouldn't have made it without good ol' HF. I can't thank you enough!
So the plan is to breed Caly in April 2014 for a March/April 2015 baby! And I can hardly wait. When we do start the breeding process, I will take a hiatus from this thread and make a pregnancy thread for her. Until then, I will be faithfully adding pics of my girly, whether you care to see them or not! Lol!
To kick things off, these are some pics from the first few weeks I had her. I bought her in June 2012.
