We processed about 120 calves and roped about 60 bull calves to cut. A friends wife is a hobby photographer and snapped some pics. Here is a few I picked out a few to share. Lots of fun had by all!

Very nice photography! And what's up with that measly amount of snow, huh?
I know, we haven't diddly squat for snow! Supposed to be a mild winter here. I am sure you guys have way more up there :)

I LOVE the black and white ones! I love how they have an air of ambiguity as to the date: are they current...or taken 100 years ago?
So perfect.
I love the black and whites too! They turned out great, I was just so excited that someone actually took pics when we were doing fun stuff let alone turn out that awesome... definitely some wall hangers :)

I used to love getting one of those early calves as well LOL. Some of them were bigger than some of the yearlings that we get in every summer, 500+ pounds. Dobe never balked at dragging them at whatever speed wherever I wanted, but I always ended up with big nasty bruises on my leg from the rope. But Dobe got his roping experience in a feedlot dragging critters that outweighed him :lol:.

We also very seldom did the team roping of the calves, but we always team rope our yearlings because it makes them easier to doctor. That way, mine get matched practice on both ends. I won't say they get a lot of practice because we don't work calves anymore and the feedlot stopped sending us all those little dinky chronics, but there's usually one or two that get roped for some reason or another every summer...normally it's the really fat and obnoxious ones that decide to crash the fence to the neighbor's cows and then won't go back home :? LOL.

I wish I could come join you too, Rafe is at about the right stage in his training that a few days of that or a few days in a feedlot would do him some real good.

Great photos!!

I used to take one of my event horses to a neighboring cow/calf farm and help with separating them. My horse loved working the cattle. One nice thing, she used to foxhunt, so snapping my hunt whip to move the cattle along didn't bother her at all.

Great fun!

BTW, I love the buckaroo tack and clothing. When I ride western, I use buckaroo also. My tall boots/chinks/hat are fun to use.

That's cool Allison!
I love seeing horses going "both" directions ;) I am riding a horse for a friend that she hasn't seen what direction he wants to go...either hunter/jumper or barrel horse but in the mean time I am riding him out here to give him some outside time and learn to be a horse. Either way he will be well rounded!

The big bay I am riding in the photos is an older ranch horse that has been passed around and has some bad habits, that was my first day roping off of him- heeling and getting him staying straight. As long as get a little bit better everyday I am happy :)

Also wanted to note the big grey horse of Casey's is a horse he picked up in Montana at a horse sale, the bottom of his tongue is dang near cut off. Used to be a run away and bucker. Now a stand up ranch horse in the bridle :)
