Drifter after a summer of groceries and work!

So proud of my handsome man ! He has come a long way this summer! After a gain of about 300 lbs, and a lot of riding and hill work, he is finally starting to look like a horse in his prime. I snapped some pictures today of my cousin messing around on him, and I just could not believe how much better he is looking! Can anyone else tell a difference? I might just being seeing things because I reaaalllly wanna see a difference! Haha

The first picture will be when I first moved him to the new barn and rest are more recent up to the last ones (with the little girl in them) which were taken today. I love my guy, and I love he is looking/feeling better. Woo hoo!!

Thank you cowgirl! I feel blessed to have found him. And I will tell my nephews you liked their painting, ha ha! They watched a western on TNT with my dad (hence the TnT on drifter's flank lol) and wanted to paint a horse like the indian horses. Since Drifter is a saint when it comes to children, he was the lucky chosen one! He wasn't to thrilled with them trying to circle his nostril, but besides that he was quite the professional baby sitter

Haha that's great don't know to much on Indians painting horses but I do know that a circle.around their eye was supposed to improve the horses sight when they went into battle!

Yes that is correct! The Sun stood for happiness, the bird was balance and the circle around the nostrils was for sensing danger.

My dad's side of the family is Cherokee, ha ha. I know more about the symbols for hunting buffalo though then I do about the war paint. Though I am sure some of them were interchangeable.

This painting session began as an educational lesson, but pretty soon all kinds of handprints, hearts, stars, smiley faces and TnT logos were on him.. oh well! We tried :) Drifter soaked up the attention and love! Even when my niece brought out some hot pink paint and a tiara. I will have to post that pic! It was hilarious

Thank you! Just realized I left out a picture of him and his "mini me" and a picture we took today of his "fabio/skater boy forelock" as one of my good friends calls it . Ha ha! The mini horse is one of Drifter's best friends. They were in a paddock together while Drifter recuperated from the infamous gash that gave him his scar, and they have been buddies every since. The mini's name is "Mighty Joe Young". And yes, that is his name. The whole thing. Whenever someone is going out to catch him you will hear " HEEEERE MIGHTY JOE YOUNG!" My niece named him (she is obsessed with the movie) and refuses to shorten it to "Joe". I call him Joe anyways, but around her I have to be very careful or she gets upset thinking I don't like the name she picked out . So I am constantly having to be like "woah, mighty Joe Young. Walk on Mighty Joe Young".
