I'm going to look at this boy in two weeks, he's free through a lady my trainer knows to a forever home. I just got pictures of him this morning :) This horse screams WP & HUS

Shiz. I just realized that one is a proof... Sorry!
I guess all I saw was the horse :)
Selective vision ;)

He's 9 I believe.
He looks small to me, maybe 14.3hh or something.

Can you tell what sort of bit that is? Just curious

I'm a sucker for bays >_<

Super cute...but someone has to ask the question...why is he free?

Looks to be a curb bit...just one with the fancy shanks instead of the 'dollar store curbs' that are rather plain. Could be a tom-thumb too. Some people church them up a bit so they don't look so boring.

I thought it looked curb-like, but something about the way the bit meets the shanks threw me off.

He was offered to my trainer (she's pretty big in the arab horse world) becuase the owner wants a good forever home for him. I'm not sure why they want to get rid of him... maybe they figure he will get more use at my trainers than at their place. I told my trainer I was looking for an arab and this is the one I fell in love with :)

What's his temperament like?

He seems like a good soul, but snapshots never tell the real picture.

He may not have been flashy enough for his owners, they may not have had time for him, or maybe just didn't want the expense of having him on their feed bill.

He's definitely cute, but isn't exactly going to take the showing world by storm. I'd put him pretty middle of the range for looks and talent. Doesn't mean he won't make a perfect pleasure horse for you.

I haven't met him yet so I'll have to let you know. He's a Straight Egyptian so he could be a little more spirited, but I've also known some SEAs that are as docile as the polish/spanish/american bred arabs.

He has show experience (They were open shows, so I can't find any of his showing records in AHA) in WP I believe. I think he'd make a cute hunter, too.

I'm not planning on taking him to nationals or anything, probably not even regionals, but he should be fun to take to some smaller shows :)

Yep, definitely should do well at local shows, and even some A rated, local Arabian shows.

I'm not a fan of today's SEs, but he looks to have some older bloodlines. Doesn't look weedy and stringy like so many of the SEs nowadays.

What's his pedigree?

I'm not sure, I've researched and all I've come up with is his reg. number (AHR*588402). I can't look up his pedigree on AHA because I'm not subscribed to the "Arabian DataSource Online". LOL

I *think* he is out of Halim El Mansour, but I'm not positive.

I wouldn't worry so much about the "free" part. This is through someone your trainer knows, right? I know someone on here asked "but why is he free." My first 2 horse were free and they were marvelous. Yes they had a few little personality issues but they settled out after a while. The first was given away because she wasn't a good hunter/jumper and the owner just didn't' want her anymore. The other one was given to me simply because the person could not afford it's board...and he was a marvelous horse.

I think if a horse is free...then as long as it is for the most part healthy, sound and has a good brain, it should be ok. Even if you end up putting a few hundred into a trainer for help you still are coming out with a good deal.

I'm unable to view the picture, but I wouldn't let his plainess (as others have described him) stop you from showing and competing successfully. I own a little (14.2) Straight Egypt. gelding that has no flash and looks quite dorky standing in his stall. Like he should be wearing thick black rimmed glasses and starring in the old TV show "My Three Sons." But just get him out and saddle him up and go into to the arena and you see a whole different horse.

I found this on a blog about Halim El Monsour and thought you might find it interesting, if infact your guy is related to him. Also Ansata Ibn Halima, fantastic stallion and wonderful off spring. I've owned two with this breeding. Here's a link to Ansata's pedigree; http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/ansata+ibn+halima

HALIM EL MANSOUR
(*ANSATA IBN HALIMA X RDM MAAR HALA)
1979 - 2007

It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I must tell you our prince of light and gentle warrior was laid to rest yesterday at high noon. He earned his wings and flew away in a gentle breeze at the top of the highest point on our farm, in the large pasture where the mares and babies will forever be in his company. His beautiful eyes remained so full of spirit, dark and expressive right to the very end but his body was telling him it was time to leave. Halim was a first class gentleman and will be missed terribly by all who have had the pleasure of his company. Halim El Mansour's legacy will live on through his sons and daughters. We are so fortunate to have many gracing our pastures.

Good Bye and God Bless You Halim.

Yeah, I read on your website while I was doing research that he had passed away. He was very pretty.

Yeah, Cinny, its through my trainer. I have no doubt that the horse is good quality, being free does not scare me off, especially if the owner cares about the horse enough to contact someone they know would make a good home. I need to get some more pictures :)
