Okay, okay, so I am pretty excited at the moment, last week I had this boy offered to me for five fifty, yeah he's cheap, but that is because he needs work.
Harry, also know as SoldierBoy and once known as Harbharuler is a five and a half year old pure Standardbred, he had four starts and only placed once. His owners couldn't be bothered with him because he wasn't fast enough and were about to send him to the doggers when another couple offered to buy him, this couple began to grow old and Harry was just left in the paddock. He was then offered to Bob, the guy who offered him to me. Bob, although he has a kind heart, only bought his two horses as pets, he learnt how to ride off youtube and doesnt know how to care for them properly, Harry began to become a handful for him, he was headshy, has no ground manners, doesnt know how to lunge properly and I have only just broken his pace under saddle (I was so proud of him! Once he got the message not to pace he would trot beautifully and would even attempt to canter, but then drop back to trot, at least its a start though :) ) Harry walked all over Bob and wouldn't do as anyone told him to do, when I came up to give him a ride, I jumped right on and he didnt play up at all, he even seemed keen to actually work and learn! I am so proud of him. Oh Oh and, I've have managed to get him to trust me enough to hold his head, he wont let anyone do it because he is supposedly very head shy
After Christmas this year, I plan on entering him in the Breed show, take lots of photos and his he places well, Harry and I are going to drive to Victoria to meet with his original owners to show them that they should have given him a better chance and taken the time to train him well, even though he wasnt good at racing doesnt mean he's good for nothing. I plan on entering him under his former racing name Harbharuler as well.
Anyway, here are some pictures of my boy:)
I am actual in love with him you have no idea, it really angers me that he was never given a real chance to shine, he's a beautiful horse with a good nature who loves to learn, he just needs some manners, can't wait to let him prove him self to his first owners!
