First ride on Blitz!

I haven't ridden consistently for over a year now, and today I had my first ride on my friend's gelding Blitz. I'm going to be working her mare regularly and occasionally hopping up on this guy for a fun ride.

Please no critiques! I know exactly what my issues are and the year off brought back ALL of my old bad habits. I'm planning to start lessons with a dressage instructor on the mare so I will shortly be on top of it.

My boyfriend is quite the photographer, no? Ha ha.

Enjoy!

Warming up.

Trotting on a loose rein to get him moving.

Canter!

Taking a quick break.

So happy to be riding!

Trot again.

More in next post!

Good boy!

Another break. (Mostly for me!)

Okay, time to move your butt!

Canter again!

You will trot now and you will like it.

He's all stiff... he REALLY wanted to be cantering, ha ha.

Back to leaning/slouching... bad Gillian!

Nice little jog.

He was a good boy for me.

So handsome!

A few more in next post!

I agree Pinto! He's great to ride. Tested me a bit, and was confused that someone else was riding him, but he's honest and very responsive.

He NEVER gets ridden by anyone else but his owner, ha ha. He was weirded out.

He is gorgeous! It looks like you had a tonne of fun to be riding him :) I hope you have fun with the mare to

There is one principle that should never be abandoned, namely, that the rider must first learn to control himself before he can control his horse. This is the basic, most important principle to be preserved in equitation - Alois Podhajsky

^ Agreed about the saddle pad! You have quiet a handsome boy!

You are never better than anyone. Every rider has skills they need to improve. The only one you must compare yourself with, is you.

Thanks you guys!

And Gidget, I had to give Zeus back to his owner when I moved for college. Now it's been a year, I've moved back to my hometown, have my own place, and am riding for the woman who owns the barn where I kept Zeus. It's great to be back!
