First time in the water

We have a pond in our backyard and with a little persuasion my girlfriend and I finally got our mares to go through it yesterday and they loved it. So we took some turns taking pictures...







And these are just a few pictures taken before the ride...

Next step, getting our bathing suits on and swimming across the deeper end

Thanks!! Yeah, I am a little concerned with the way the pond is set up. I may have to walk it first The way the previous owners set it up it looks like a dropoff so I'm concerned if the horses can't pull themselves back up we may be in for trouble. It's not like a river that slopes up on both sides. So I may hold back from ever doing it here...Or maybe I just need to drain it and redig it out

Vegas HATES water.. It's like the end of the world if a 1" deep puddle gets in our path!

Haha, my horses would be absolutely OUTRAGED if I made them stand in that much water. Shoot, they get angry if I turn them out in the rain!

They are beautiful, and they make such a cute little couple in the pre-ride pics. Good luck in all your future swimming/pong re-digging adventures! =]

Riding in water is a lot of fun but yeah I'd suggest maybe you walk it first. I rode my friends mare through water at the beach, she even went in for a swim! Loads of fun! My mare and gelding though on the other hand grunt and throw drafty fits when they MIGHT have to go through a SMALL puddle. Lucky you for just a little persuasion and in you go!

Thats great I only recently took my boy in the water a littler while ago and he loved it :)

Thanks everyone, they do seem to love it, we took them through again yesterday. Cami (Bay mare) splashes around and throws her front foot to create splashes the whole time.

2 miles into the trails where I keep my horse, and across a few hay fields there is a very beautiful stream, I took my horse to said stream, he stepped in it fine, and then ran out the other side xD
