Getting this Satin!

Last Thursday my dad told me his brother was wanting to bring his Foxtrotter mare out and put her with my horses because him and his girlfriend seperated and he didn't have anywhere to put the horse. He told dad we could ride her, mess with her, whatever and if we wanted to buy her we could pay him in payments. Then Friday I found out someone else wanted to buy her so I didn't think anything else of it, just like an "oh well" thing but I had really been looking forward to another horse, especially an older horse who was very well broke.
But Saturday when me and hubby went to check our horses dad was hooking the trailer and I found out Satin, my uncle's horse was coming here.
She's about 18-20 years old, supposedly registered MO Foxtrotter but when he bought her they didn't have papers. He bought her for his grand daughter and he's rode her so I know she's beginner safe.
She was sold to my uncle because she wouldn't breed. She's a trail horse and I don't know if she's ever been shown or rode on the road or in parades. Doesn't seem to be skittish.
She has foundered before and I was told by my uncle's ex-girlfriend who is also a friend of mine, that she founders every spring on Fescue but a vet looked at her and didn't think any permanent damage had been done.
I plan on keeping her on a strict diet. She's shod now and doesn't have too terrible looking feet and isn't lame. She was rode with a snaffle the second day here by hubby and did good. She has a lot more pep than Chanti but listened ok. I think a curb bit would be better.

The only thing I don't like about her is that big nose lol. But she seems to be a sweetie and I can't wait to ride her.

Thanks! So far she is. I was told she tried to nip when being girthed up but we went slow with her like we do ours, no kneeing them in the belly or jerking it real tight right off and she did fine. Just stood there. Hubby had never rode a foxtrotter and he loved the gait. I'm just itching to get in the saddle lol.
