It's Lacey's 29th birthday today!
I can't hardly believe it.
It still feels like just yesterday when I was meeting a 23 year old, who I had been told was 21, gray Arabian mare "to see if we meshed."
Feels like just yesterday that it was the July evening when I saw her for the first time - trotting, obese as all get-out, around her pasture, blowing fire for the strangers [one of her favorite activities ever].
And it feels like just yesterday when I heard her owner whisper to our mutual friend "This girl is the one. Lacey's hers."
Everything in between feels like it happened a moment ago: riding her for the first time and being scared to death, watching her buck everyone -except me- off for the first year because they "weren't doing it right", moving her home, getting the ERU diagnosis, all the wonderful rides we've gone on, all the times she's saved my skin and refused to let me fall, how fabulous she is in the face of "disaster"...
She's my perfect other half.
Happy birthday, sweet Goose-Girl!!
