New member here from northern NY. I don't have any specific questions at the moment, but thought I would try to post pictures of my herd.
I have 3 horses right now. I had a 4th horse, but there is an older gentleman who faithfully comes to the barn with me to do chores and helps me endlessly. He would never accept any money so in the end I recognized that he was very bonded to one of the girls and she was bonded to him so I decided to make it official and my thank you to him was a horse of his own.
Cisco is an 11 year old Quarter Horse gelding. He is short and muscular...a handsome fellow. He gives me grief about being caught so we're working on making it more fun so he'll want to come when I try to bring him in. Stinker!
Missy is an 11 year old Chincoteauge Pony/Appaloosa mare. She is the boss of the herd and can be a bit of a nag sometimes. She came from the same farm as Cisco. I forgive her "naggi-ness" because she is a goof ball (picture her picking up a riding helmet by the strap and waving it around in the air) and she is wonderful with my 3 year old son and the kids who don't have much horse experience. She isn't overly cooperative...but they learn how to ride. Lol
Mocha is actually the first horse I got (after being out of the horse loop for almost 20 years) and she was a rescue. A family had got her from an auction but couldn't keep her so she came to me. She is 4 years old and a bit of a pocket horse and loves her people. She is green broke and needs more work, but she is going to be great! She is by the way the horse I gave to my barn helper.
Last but certainly not least is my 11 year old Appaloosa/Arabian gelding Snickers. Since the pictures are out of order I'll clue you in that he is the flea bitten gray! He was also a rescue and is partially owned by my 17 year old niece. He has a significant melanoma on his right side, a smaller one on his neck, and several under his tail. He has been responding well to cimetadine therapy. He is a rock solid guy and doesn't get shaken by much.
So that is the intro to my kids. Hopefully the pictures come through. LOL Thanks for giving me a forum to brag!!!
