Horse photo contest overflow solution - please read.
Hello horse lovers! I had an idea and wanted your approval.
Since Dani started the first photocontest, I have been seeing a new one pop up about every week (or more). Now, I did start the "baby horse" contest, and I totally approve of specialty contests. I also totally approve of any non-horse related photo contest that anybody wants to start. But, for the regular horse contests, I recommend this:
Both paintluver and I were active members of the Ultimate Horse Board (currently down for repairs). A girl started one of the classic photo contests with different categories, etc. As soon as she got the results out, everyone jumped on and wanted to host their own too. It was kinda chaos, until she came up with this idea. We organized monthly horse photo contests. The contests started and were done within the month and the judge for one month's picked the next month's judge. In my idea, Dani (since she started the contests) would choose the judge for November. In turn, the judge that conducts the November contest would choose the judge to oversee in December, and so on. I highly recommend this method, and Dani is behind me 100%. Number 1, because all of these contests piled one on top of the other diminishes all of them. Number 2, it takes up constant room that should be free for the members to show of them beautiful horses! Number 3, I've learned that it will be more anticipated, special, and there will be more activity in each contest.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not proposing that any of you stop your current contests, but once they are over, this can come into effect. So, if you would like to judge the November contest, either post a reply here, or pm paintluver or myself. I think Dani will decide on a judge by the Sunday, Nov. 4th, so you must let us know before then. When she chooses the judge, they can iron out any details. This may sound pushy, but it's not intended to be. Thank you to everyone here.
