    How I survived riding Leo...

Mhm, you heard me! I rode Leo again!

    And...*gasp*....

    Enjoyed it!

I never thought I would ever ever say that....but I did! I had fun riding him (:

They had just clipped him so he was nice and soft, and how can you hate anything that's soft? Plus he looked really cute today, lol.

He was good on the flat and I seriously LOVE this horse at the canter. It's sooo smooth, with just enough "jump" to let me relax and go with it. Plus his flying changes are super automatic - doesn't matter where we are or what we're doing, if I ask for a lead change, he gives it XD

There were a bunch of flowers next to one of the jumps so we had...two refusals. He was naughty about it so I gave him a smack on the butt with my crop...which led to a nice little bucking fit  This led me to discover that I love riding bucks. His weren't big or anything, but there were 3 in a row and it was FUN! (I also love falling off, btw)

I just did single lines on him today but I *think* next week I'm going to try a course on him! Probably just a bending line to an outside line, but it'll be the most jumps in a row on him since he shattered my confidence!

    THEN...I cooled out bareback (:

Getting on was incredibly awkward and Leo has a bony little spine, which means my butt hurts really bad now but it was TOTALLY worth it!

And, now that you've read my little novel, here are a few pictures of me bareback on said horse.

See? Doesn't he look REALLY cute here?

I look huge here, but when I'm in the saddle w/stirrups I don't look that bad. I swear!

    Enjoy (:

oh yeah, all the drama happened before I was a member here!

    It's a long story...basically....

I rode him last year, and he refused EVERYTHING. Which made me start to panic 5-6 strides out that he would stop, and then he would stop, which would make me f.reak out even more at the next jump....basically he made me start to hate riding and shattered my confidence.

But since then I've been riding horses that helped me regain a lot of confidence, and cured my leaning habit (root of why he was refusing), and I'm an overall better rider now so my trainer has put me back on him.

    (:

LOL I always loved HIM, just not riding him.

His spots are pretty awesome, though. Especially when you get him WET!

This is coming from a girl who rides at a mostly traditional hunter barn and never SAW an appaloosa until Leo arrived 2 yrs ago.
