I rode the best mare in the world today...

Hey Guys!

So, I realized that you guys have never REALLY had a pic overload of my horse Ginisee. She is my old girl who I hardly ever ride, and therefore never have updated pics of.

A little history before we get started:

Ginisee is an 18 (YEAH! Really!) year old OTTB who only raced for a year. After that, she was bought by a man in MO who's intention was to breed her to a Fresian stud. But he got out of TB's and into Arabians. We got her for next to nothing as a wormy, underweight, skanky looking 10 year old who had done basically nothing since she came off the track. With help, she quickly turned into the best horse I have ever owned. We campaigned at Beginner Novice eventing for a year, winning the 2004 MACTA Reserve Champion BN horse of the year. The next year, we did Novice and qualified for the American Eventing Championships.

Unfortunately, shortly after (like a week) we qualified for Nationals, Ginisee sustained a career-ending deep flexor tendon injury which put her into retirement at the age of only 15.

It took a full year for her to recover, but then by that time, it just wasn't worth it to bring her back. It would have broken her heart to try XC again and not be able to do it. So, she has served as my trusty pasture pal/babysitter/best horse ever since.

I realized a while ago that I had been neglecting her. So I hopped on her again. And wow, was it good to be back on my Ginisee. I've missed her so much. She is the horse that will put a smil on my face every ride without fail.

I love my Ginny Gin

Ok... enough rambling... PICCIES from today's ride!!!

*feel free to critique. But keep in mind that I have not ridden her in over 6 months except for the occasional bareback and halter ride

Thank you guys!

She really is a sweetie... under saddle. Haha.

I never trust her with others on the ground because she can be quite the grouch. Especially now that she is getting older.

I've never seen pics of you riding her, now that you mention it! She looks like such a sweetie:). Like my Arthur, you can hop on him after 3 months off and he'll still be great!

She looks like a sweet girl that enjoyed that ride!

Forgive my nosiness, but are you planning on working with her more often now, or keeping her as a pasture buddy?
