Meet all the rescues! They are all rescued by Horses of Gili from the Gili Islands, Indonesia. Here is official introductions and information on everyone!

Jara: bay Sumbawa mare, vet (yes a vet was really here last week) agreed with my estimate of 4 to 5 years of age. Rescued September 30 as a heavily pregnant and VERY skinny mare form the island of Lombok. She was pulling a cidomo (tourist cart). Had baby Varsha on October 22. Just had her teeth done and they were very bad so this may have contributed to her being so thin. Jara is 14.1 or 14.2 hands. Broke to ride and drive. She is also a beautiful mover.

Hope: brownskin (best guess) Lombok mare rescued on October 8th with horribly abscessed and badly infected feet with severe thrush. Feet had rubber tire "shoes" nailed on with nails going into the sensitive areas. Was otherwise in good shape. Upon her vet exam her teeth were not bad but we floated them anyway but we did confirm she is blind or nearly blind in her left eye (I was suspicious). Feet still have thrush but massively improved but has severely contracted heels and right rear foot still painful. Will take a long time for feet to be right. Hope is 14 hands. Vet guesses her age at 7. Broke to ride and drive. Movement is terrible but assume this is the painful feet so time will tell.

Charity: wild type buckskin mare from Lombok rescued three days ago. Has been tied to a tree with a foal next to her since October 18th. No shelter and very little food. She is very thin and looks wormy and unfortunately the vet did not get to see her before they left. I feel sharp points on her teeth and guess her to be about 6 years old. Left rear foot looks odd...choppy stride...never trained but does lead and tie and allows me to pick up her feet. Very nervous. 13 hands

Varsha: Jara's baby a cute little girl who will likely be bay. Born October 22. Already leading and can pick up all four feet and groom her. Sire is a 15.2 hand stallion form island of Sumba so she has racing blood

Suede: Charity's baby born around October 1 (best guess) is a little boy. Has a cute white spot in his mane and is also a wild buckskin. Completely wild and has never been handled. Little front feet way too long so will need to be addressed asap. Sire is supposedly a 15 hand stallion from Sumbawa.

We will be creating a Facebook page for Charity as it was only through the kindness of others that I was able to afford to rescue her and care for her and the bay. but we just couldn't stand to see her and the baby in those conditions.

You have seem them in other threads but this can be their official introduction thread

I have talked extensively to The Brooke but unfortunately right now they cannot work in Indonesia for various reasons. They have provided us with lots of great information and other assistance though and will possibly be able to help in upcoming years. For now we rely on donations and sponsors. We just completed our semi annual horse clinic and treated 257 horses and ponies in 5 days on 3 islands! Was amazing!

The horses here are of so many colors. I will post a Horse of Gili post and show the different types we see here. They are in all but bay is probably most common. We have ponies and riding horses and everything in between. I am super excited as Texa A and M has agreed to do a genetics study ad breed test 30 or so of the horses at no charge. I think that will be so interesting and educational!
