    Jumping Lesson Today!!

So today's jumping lesson went really well and I had someone take pictures. I'm on the Appy pony and in the jumping vest. Camille is on the chestnut and Brittany is on the bay. Here is what I can tell you about each horse and rider:

Brittany and Dreamer: Dreamer is brand new to jumping, only had about a dozen rides over fences and she is getting better and better. Brittany is working on keeping her heels down and setting Dreamer up for the right take off spot on a jump. Brittany and Dreamer will be showing with me next month.

Camille and Annie: Camille is working on giving a bigger release over the jumps and Annie has a really bad habit of chipping in a stride right before the jump (you will see in one of the pictures how close she gets to the jump before takeoff.)

Rusty and I: I am working on cantering jumps with Rusty and regaining control after the jumps. I am also working on setting his head on the flat. I know I need to work on my lower legs, they swing back pretty bad.

So that's the scoop. Enjoy the pictures and if you see anything that us rider's need to work on OTHER THAN what I just mentioned, let me know and I will relay it to the girls.

(look at how close this horse is to the jump! And she still clears them!)

(I caught him in the mouth, which I hardly ever do, because he took a really long spot and I didn't slip my reins fast enough)

One thing I may point out is that your leathers look very long; have you tried shortening them? That may help you get our heel up and under you..

Who are you talking about? Me or the other two? If its me I can try to raise them but I always feel odd with them shorter than they are now. I agree that Brittany and Camille could shorten theirs.

So I raised my stirrups up a hole and it did help. Thanks.
