***PLEASE READ: Okay, you guys are going to have to hear me out here! Penny was having some slight soundness issues.. she had been just a bit off for a while and I decided to give her a bit of a break, so a friend of mine took her up to his ranch for a while so she could just be a horse I had her trimmed just before she left.. when she came back (about 2 weeks overdue), her feet were absolutely awful! She's always had a bit of a problem with under run heels in the back (which my farrier keeps in check) and a clubbish hoof on her right front. PLEASE ignore her horrible hooves... she's getting done TOMORROW! She's been home about a week, but my farrier has been completely booked. It makes me shudder to see how crushed and under run her heels are in the pics.. but I can assure you they don't look so extreme in person.
I'm surprised she's still sound with these hooves- Hasn't shown any off-ness whatsoever, so I think she recovered from whatever was going on when she got a good long break. I know that there's no excuse for how bad they are.. I feel very guilty for letting them get this way.. I'm just itching to crop her hooves out and use the excuse that I'm an awful photographer, but I'm just hoping you all will understand the circumstances and restrain from bashing me for being a bad horse owner I would just skip sharing these pics, but I figured you all have probably forgotten about her by now with a lack of updates!
Anyways! Besides her God awful hooves, I think she looks quite spectacular for being in complete pasture condition! Her mane- although being choppy and uneven- has started growing back from when Juno mowed it all off
