Just Sharing some Cinny pics from today...

I stopped giving Cinny "Black as Knight" because I thought the Paprika may be agitating his tummy situation. He is now sporting "That Dark Bay Look." LOL. Will be interesting to see how much he fades by the end of summer.

Health before beauty :)

"Black as Knight" is a coat supplement geared towards keeping a black horse black instead of fading. It actually works really really well on Cinny, even towards the end of summer last year he wasn't as faded as he is now.

The main thing in it that makes them stay black is paprika (a lot of people just add paprika to their horse's ration). There are a few draw backs. Paprika contains capsacin (being a pepper) so if you show at a rated level it can cause a positive drug test. It's usually good to stop feeding it 2 weeks before a show.

Also, if your horse has gastro-intestinal issues (Cinny has gastric reflux/ulcers) being derived from a pepper, it shouldn't be used as it can irritate the stomach lining on these sensitive horses. It's the first thing I pulled from Cin's diet when I suspected there was tummy troubles.
