She's so funny. It was a really nice day today so we went on a ride. First off, she was kind of a jerk while we were riding. A responsive jerk, but a jerk nonetheless.
So, since she had enough energy to be a jerk, I figured that I'd get her to run a lot in hopes of getting her tired, right? Oh yes, that worked greeeeaaat.
We did a few sets of cantering/trotting for 5 minutes straight and by the end of each, she was breathing super hard (but was breathing normally within 2 minutes) and when we got back she was sweaty enough that it was foamy and she needed to be hosed off. So I hosed her off and took her back to her field. Once I let her go, she immediately went cantering and bucking off to the middle of the field, where she immediately rolled about a bazillion times and jumped up and went bucking off to the other side. At about that point, I realized that my plan to tire her basically failed.
So then I fed her and went out to get her and she saw me and came cantering over from her side of the field. Srsly. Whoever is feeding her crack needs to stop! Hahaha
The other thing that's cool about all this cantering she's doing is that she's doing it all on her own. I had never seen her canter willingly before last spring when I was free lunging her and I had never seen her canter in the field EVER. She would just trot really fast to keep up with her buddies. Basically, she was SO ridiculously out of shape and fat (on the Henneke scale she was at least a 8 or 9 and she had been out of work for 7-10 years) when I got her that I think her body has really had a hard time recovering. So it's SO cool to see her basically blossoming into this really fit, comfortable in her own skin, lil creature. :)
Shedding. She grows a ridiculous amount of hair and its all soooooo white. My lesson kids like to pretend that it's snow. Haha
"Maybe if I close my eyes and pretend that you're not standing there preparing to hose me off, you'll disappear..."
"Perhaps if I command you? Get away from me with that hose, woman!"
"Maybe if I just look cute and helpless..." (look how sweaty she is! It's ridiculous.)
"I did not enjoy that." Clean!
My neighbor's "puppy"(he's really about 8). He LOVES going with Lacey and I. He thinks it's so much fun to run along with us.
And the required upside down poneh picture...
"Hi there! I'm brown now, thought you oughtta know."
Arabian pretending to be a musclebound, HYPP positive, Quarter Horse pose (she is so not normal...hahaha):
Trot to our friends!
And a buck for good measure!
The video! (and forgive the 5 seconds before the very end, my camera was being ornery) I think it's cute how while she's running she has her head and ears pricked a little towards me like "Hey! You going to play with me?"
Thanks for looking! :)
