Lacey, the goats, and some visiting deer!

This'll mostly be of the goats - I'm sitting in class, bored, so sharing pictures is the name of the game! We're supposed to be watching a movie but it's in French and the subtitles are down by the floor...and I'm in the back of the class...so I can't see them. Haha Soooo I'm going to watch it again, online, when I get home and space off for now. Hahaha

And if you're following my journal, you will have already seen the deer pictures but you know.

Atticus got some MAJOR zoomies the other day...

Laceeeeey. :)

Miss Hazel!

Attucus, apparently practicing his headshots for a future career with "Abercrombie & Goat"

Hazel!

The other day I found Lacey taking a nap, laying down. Atticus tipped her off to my presence, however, and she got up before I could get a better picture than this. :(

Hazzzzel!

LaceyLace.

Deer!
These guys came through at sunset last night. MY FAVORITE.

This cutie was Lacey's "baby" last spring. Her mom would leave her with Lacey alll the time and they're still buddies.

Most of the deer...

Naptime!

"WHAT???? @%&*%$#@@!"

[she was chewing her cud]

That's all! Thanks for looking!! I hope you enjoyed. :)

I love Atti. He's too cute. Young boys are so entertaining to watch.

Those deer look tiny. What variety are they?
All we have out in IL/WI is Whitetail. I got to see Mule Deer and Blacktail deer while in ND.

Nice pics altogether. You seem to have gotten the hang of your camera.

They really are! He's such a nutcase. Kinda overwhelms Lacey, Hazel, and I energy-wise but I think that once he "grows up" in a year or so, he'll be a really nice guy. Haha

The deer, I believe, are Mule Deer. They're smaller than Lacey but much bigger than the goats...maybe 12-13 hh?
I'm not sure though, they don't really look exactly like Google's description of Mule Deer...but they have the throat spot... I have read that they can cross breed with Whitetails, maybe they're some sort of mix? Haha I don't know.
At the summer camp I used to work at, there were the tiniest deer EVER. They were maaaybe 3ft tall at the shoulders! But those guys were not the same kind as these guys.

Thanks! :)

Where we lived in MT and ID (in the mountains) the deer were tiny. Here, on the prairies, they are huge! It's all a matter of what they have available to eat. One of our prairie deer, who is used to eating all the grain (out in the field) that they want, wouldn't survive in the mountains. Oh, and yes those look like mulies.

I love your pics! The goats are awesome! So going to have to get one when I get my place.

Hmm. I think they are mules or mule crosses. Ferdi. Has the 'distinctive V-shaped coloration' on his face that is like a mule deer. The small ones were probably Black Tailed Deer. If I remember, they were supposed to be pretty small, but they had the nicest antlers of the three breeds IMO. Also, the Mule's antlers antlers fork and look kind of like a 'Y'. (<Cause I'm sure you really care about any of this. LOL. But I can't help researching. It's so fun! Plus I've grown up with plain ol' White tails, so something different is fun to see.)

<3, HLL! :)

Right, GG? Goats are so my favorites (well, next to horses, on the 'farm animal' scale) now! Hilariously, I had never actually seen a full-sized goat in real life, never touched one more than probably once at the zoo, never actually knew that goats had horns, etc, before I got them! And now I'm hopelessly addicted.

OH MY GOSH, MEGAN! That's so cool. Thank for sharing. I love this stuff! And, luckily, I actually have a horn from one of those camp deer (the little ones) and it looks like a Blacktail horn! #researchisawesome
We're so educated now. Yes, please!!!
I had no idea that their horns were different depending on "breed"... It makes 100% logical sense that they are but I never really thought about it. I'll have to really analyze Ferdinand's horns the next time I see him!!

Haha, Leah, you are TOO funny! :) I really like those two too! I feel like they both really capture her personality completely. Like the first one kind of captures her more vulnerable side where she's wanting to be protected, and the second one captures her "I can handle this! We ARE doing this now! I DO what I WANT." side!

Oh goodness...I think Hazel is one of the cutest things I've seen in my life! Of course Lacey and Atticus are adorable too. Great deer shots as well!
