Overall, I think she's feeling really good.
She does have mud fever again which is a major pain but so far it's not as bad as she had it last year. Yesterday I was able to find this tea-tree oil based ointment and spray (after looking in a million stores!) that's supposed to be really good for mud fever so I washed her legs and slathered that stuff on yesterday. It's probably just me being hopeful, but the scabs seemed tinier today and a scab from a cut she got on her lower leg fell off today, leaving happy skin where it had been bleeding after I washed it on Wednesday...who knows. Haha
The other plus for this ointment and the spray is that for them to be effective, I just need to clean her legs as well as possible. I don't have to wash them every time I want to treat them. I plan to still wash her legs every couple days with anti-fungal shampoo but since that takes at least an hour for the entire production, it's reassuring that it's not a "I MUST have a full hour to treat her EVERYDAY" thing anymore, that she'll still be getting good treatment whether I have an hour on any given day or not.
The ointment and the spray both smell good, like tea-tree oil, which is another plus. Lacey disagrees but really, since when has her opinion mattered? LOL!
She also looks a bit like a mange victim right now because of her partial clip from the winter, then her hairy legs, then the totally shaved lower 6+ inches of her legs. It's rather comical. She also doesn't seem to find that amusing...
Anyway, picture time!
All tacked up, heading down to the trails. Practicing our "leading from behind" which really works well with her. Who knew!
Still going along...
The trail! It's SO gorgeous out there right now! I love the early spring.
That hill ahead is Lacey's favoritest to run up. She hops right into a canter when I ask and ZOOM! Up the hill we go. Haha
Thank goodness that these trails are sandy/crushed gravel! No mud!
After the ride:
"Ummmm...this is the part where you feed me, comprende?"
(like her halter? I ordered some reins, got that halter instead, had it sitting around my house, and decided to use it. She looks cute in pink, imo)
"Hahahaha yuz tell such funny jokez...
...BUT I IZ NOT LAFFEN'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Trick-ed youz! *smiles smugly*"
And a little family of mushrooms that are right in the doorway to the feed room.
I couldn't decide whether they were cute or gross. They certainly weren't there yesterday! O.o
Lacey's poor comical legs. They look worse than they are because of a little mud, her socks, and how hairless they are. Don't worry, she isn't really dying from the lower leg up...I think...I hope?
Thanks for looking! :)
