Miss Lacey has been doing really well.
I have been "forced" to get a little more rule oriented with her though, she's starting to take advantage of her retirement. She's just basically being the world's sassiest troublemaker, all "What? I had NOTHING to do with that!!". Silly girl!
Then, the buck deer are super in rut right now and apparently the pasture is "their" spot. Yesterday I saw two different huge bucks hanging out! As it turns out, they keep mistaking Atticus for girl deer and chasing him until they realize that he's not a deer...or even a girl. POOR ATTI!
Thankfully so far they've been pretty cool with me there but I'm being careful - don't need to be gored or something!
Hmmm...I think that's about all on the interesting front.
I'm currently a bit worried about Hazel because she's stopped putting on weight and she's still really skinny but I'm upping her "grain" (hay pellets+grain) portion so hopefully that'll help. Poor old girl! I adore that goat. She's SO sweet and so loving now that she knows me. She's such a nice girl.
"Basically, I'm the cutest thing evvvver, don't you agree?"
Lacey was telling me the other day that she's bored in her retirement so she's decided to be like that little old lady who ran for mayor of her small town, only Lacey's going for president. She's already practicing her debating techniques - such a go-getter!
The goats have been getting really "gross" hay I found in the tack room from before we "moved in" (they love it, it needs to be gone, it's not moldy, so I figure why not) and Lacey also really likes said gross hay. However, I'm not letting her have any because there are a lot of things that could be in/on that hay won't hurt the goats but could hurt her...and that's making her mad. Last night she nearly broke down the gate separating her from the goats.
She is currently denying any involvement.
I had let her in this pasture yesterday to see if her leg could handle it (this one is really steep and was an issue before, though she LOVES this pasture) and her leg couldn't (it was extra swollen today, sadly) so I closed it off again today.
She threw a fit.
You KNOW she's not happy when she starts nudging things. That's her "I have no time for this!!" go to behavior. hahaha
From a couple of weeks ago...I really like this one. haha
One of yesterday's bucks. This guy is the younger of the two.
And this guy was HUGE!!! (sorry about the quality - cellphone picture close to dark! haha)
I found it really funny that both bucks were basically in the same spot of the pasture, just two different times of day.
That's all! Thanks for looking! :)
