They're both doing so good.
I saddled Lady for the "first" time yesterday and she did really really well! She wasn't scared of it at all. That horse has a really logical brain on her shoulders. She spends a whole lot of time trying to find silly things to do (for instance, the other day I brought a fresh bag of raspberry leaves up for them, went to catch Lacey, and came back to Lady holding the bag in her teeth - playing "keep away" with me...that horse!!) but when she stops being a dork and actually focuses, her mind is like a steel trap! Haha
She's put on so much weight and she's finally decided that I am allowed to be "the boss" so she's quit -for the most part- her bratty little "I want my way NOW" behaviors.
Lacey was having a hard time at the beginning of the week - she had cut up her legs ridiculously bad with her other hooves and her eyes were really hurting her (ERU, like she has, is kinda like glaucoma, at this stage - there can be lots of painful pressure). But, I talked to the vet about those issues and we decided to start Lacey on a small daily dose of bute to hopefully help ease the eyeball pressure and take the edge off the pain. She needs very little bute to be noticeably more comfortable so I'm really glad that's an option for us.
I also started putting her SMBs on all her legs while we're riding, just in case the cuts are being caused by interference. I don't think that's really the cause (I think they mostly happen when she gets up from laying down) but she seems a whole lot more self assured (she's worried about hitting herself so she's toooo careful about where she puts her feet and often ends up tripping herself up more) when she has them on, so I'm not complaining. :)
We've been going on tons of trail rides and I've basically just been working to get Lady exposed to everything, increase her fitness level, and get Lacey looking less like a white beef cow. LOL!
Lacey "gets" to wear her grazing muzzle everyday from about 11am-8pm and it's really been doing great for her. She HATES having it on (I have to get it on her before I let her out of her stall after "lunch" because she will 100% evade me -at a walk, hahaha- if I let her go and haven't gotten it on her yet) but it's worth it. She's already looking so so much better after just a week of wearing it on that schedule and she's obviously more comfortable to be alive - more willing to run, etc.
Basically, I think there might be a slight chance that I kinda like my girls... Uh oh. Hahaha
Anyway, PICTURES!!
I think the llamas miss us... They constantly look bored. "Poor" things!

Lacey!! Her mane is getting SO long. O.o Also, note how she's not as "fluffy" as she could be! Yay!

Lady, running. Lacey's like "Again?? I refuse."

"Fiiiinnnnnnne. But I'm telling you RIGHT now that I do not want to be moving at speed, thank you very much. I am being FORCED, I tell you. FORCED."

"Hmmmm, did someone say run??! I love to run!!"

"That youngster..." (everyday, I lead Lacey down to the shed and Lady trot/canters down to "her" spot in the shed and waits for us, practically tapping her hooves, because we are "soooooo slooooow".)

After our ride:
"LOLOLOL I found the tack room!!"

Lacey knows how to make friends, she's got the 411: christen them with "lunch mouth". It's a real winner.

"Gosh dangit! You got the mouthjail on me! Darn you. I'm going to trot this way so I don't have to look at your jerk face ANYMORE."

Again with the running...Silly horse!

Hah, size difference. Lacey's only 14.1hh! Lady's like 0hh. Hahaha
Lady still has some weight to put on. Hopefully she doesn't run it all off! That silly goose.

Matching, but not, flymasks. I'm so excited about these. I bought them and the trim was just black. With Lacey's grazing muzzle, she looked kinda like a jerk horse. So I bought some cloth, took the original trim off, and "fixed" them! It was so easy too. I don't know why everybody doesn't make their flymasks prettier! Lol!

Off to "adventure" for the day... :)

Also, here's a video of Lacey walking funny in her SMBs. HI-LARIOUS.
She actually starts walking at 6:06, I just left the rest in because...well, she's cute just standing there! Haha
I hope you all are having a great day!

Poor Lacey. I can relate, that's how I feel when I wear heels.
