LaceyShmace and LadyFace say hi!

I had to come up with pretend "long" names for the girls just to make them sound ridiculous... LOL!
Basically, I take my "job" as horse mom/embarass-er VERY seriously, doncha' know?

Today so far has been the worst so I'm posting a picture thread to make myself feel better. Hopefully no one will mind... hahaha

Basically, the bad stuff about to day is that I went up to see the girls, hopefully ride, put Lacey's flymask on, feed them, etc - however, I get up there and Lacey's right eye is looking swollen. Her eyes generally look a little puffy in the morning, I assume due to the sun having been up for a few hours before the flymask goes on, so I didn't think much of it.
I got her allll tacked up and she was just acting unusually cranky - not her usual "I'm being a jerk because I can't wait to go!" self, more like "I'm being a jerk for 'no' reason". So I did a more thorough once over and realized that her right eye was/is much more swollen than I had thought it was and that her left eye was also swollen above average. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst, her right eye is probably a 6 and her left is about a 3-3.5 with usual/"normal" puffiness being a 2.

Anyway, that was a huge bummer. So I untacked her -she was relieved-, put a call in to the vet, and fed them both.
The vet should be calling me back pretty soon here. I'm hopeful that she won't have to come out because I juuuust recovered my "emergency slush fund" after Lacey's last episode in April, but on the plus side, if she does have to come out, I have the $$ to cover it and still have a little left over. It wouldn't be ideal but we would survive.

I saw the signs that something was going on with her eyes for the last few days (watering as soon as the flymask comes off in the evening, looking slightly more puffy than usual, etc) and now I'm thinking I should have put in a call to the vet when I saw those things and maybe we could have avoided whatever THIS is. But, I'm trying not to beat myself up too much, I mean, I'm not superhuman and I can't see into the future so how was I supposed to know that that^^ wouldn't just go away?

Now that I'm done complaining , pictures for you!!
I'm especially "proud" of the first 6. I took those with my camera that has a broken screen (a ride in the pouring rain was too much for it) and no viewfinder so I was playing a game I like to call "Take lots of pictures and maybe some will come out cool". Lol! Those were my favorites from that "game". :)

The girls... I was laying on the ground for this one so the angle is...interesting. Haha!

Mid-shake. "HURRR! Horsez SO fly."
Also, is that RIB we see?? WAT?! Who is that svelte horse!!??

So pretty. These next three=FAVORITE.

This morning.
Cute girl.

"But Mom....my eyes kinda hurt..."
[you can really see her holding her poor right eye shut in this one... :( ]
But, cute, as always!

"I AM LADY! RAWR."

All tacked up, right before I really noticed her eye. Lookin' fly with her leg gear. Aw yeah.

I have two "innocent" yawners on my hands...

"What? I didn't do anything...Liar"

"LOL"

"I am in face prison. I do not appreciate this treatment. You do not understand what I am up against here. I need to look my coolest and not like this"

The end! I hope all your days are going great!
Thanks for looking...and putting up with my "poor me/poor Lacey" saga. hahaha

Poor Laceylou, I'm so sorry she's having a bad eye day. Praying for our sweet baby girl.

Thanks cakemom, I think she appreciates it. :)
The vet never/still hasn't called me back as well which is a little frustrating. I talked to receptionist this morning and she said she'd have the vet call me but maybe the vet's just super busy today (single vet practice)... In any case, if she still hasn't called me by the time I go take Lacey's "face jail" (TM) off, I'm going to give Lacey at least a gram more of bute. Before she told me to give her 2 grams of bute but 2 makes Lacey nuts (she turns into "preppy cheerleader Lacey" where everything is "the funnest" and "the best" and it's ridiculous. hahaha) so 1 is safer until I know one way or another. haha

haha Roperchick, you know you see that little bit of rib there. She was shaking herself at that point but that's fluff. :P
Lady really does have a great yawn. i thought Lacey had a good one and then lady comes along and is just slapping her lips around, pwning Lacey at yawning... THAT PONY.

Aww, thanks CLaPorte! :)

I know she appreciates it more than the face jail! I like Lacey's yawns more, she juts her neck out and works it.

And Lady...XD that girl cracks me up! No doubt about it...she's an arab.
