I'm excited, so I thought I would share! Not sure if many of you know, but my horse Lacy coliced 3 months ago. We had just gotten the transfer papers a week before. Lacy also had a one month foal at her side. After going through surgery at an amazing vet school down in Kansas, I didn't think I would ever be able to ride her. But she always surprises me!
Yesterday we called down to the vet school and talked with them about her possibly being ridden again. They said yes as long as Lacy is fine with it and there are no issues with her incision. So last night I hopped on (carefully!) and had the most amazing ride! We only walked, since I hadn't ridden her since January because of the foal and because she had so much muscle loss.
We are slowly building her muscle back up. Meaning a little bit of lunging or riding every day. Here's some pictures of the crazy journey with this horse!
First one is Rosebud her foal right before Lacy had surgery. She was a little fighter and refused the milk formula when Lacy was gone. She ended up just eating grain and turning out to be a gorgeous little foal!
Second one is the day Rosebud was born.
The third one is of Rosebud yet again!
The fourth one is of Lacy when we went to visit her 4 days after her surgery, she was still a little out of it and trying to fight an infection.
The fifth is of when she was pregnant.
And the last few are of yesterdays ride! No pictures with me on her though :(
