Meet Java!

Here are a few photos of Java, my 11 year old dun QH. He's 16 hh and a really light buttermilk, but he has a dun stripe. I got him as a yearling and we've done everything since. He is my baby and I wouldn't sell him for anything. Two years ago my mom was offered a REALLY pretty penny for him while I was in Southern California. But I wouldn't sell him for a million dollars, really. Java hadn't been ridden in two years and I haven't ridden much during that time, either. So we're getting back in the swing of it all. He still has around 150 pounds of muscle to put back on him, but we're working on it!!

We ride english, too, but all of these photos are western. My english saddle and bridle are currently sitting next to my desk at the house. I'm thinking I might switch to english on him for a while, because the saddle is lighter for me to carry around (I know, haha) and then I'll ride western again when I pick up a yearling reining prospect. That will be tough, though. Going from a 16 hh horse to a 14.2 hh or so. But I really want to break out a horse who can do spins fast. Poor Java just doesn't have the speed for it, as much as he enjoys doing it.

Don't mind his fuzziness - he's still not shedded out from winter, and I really need to clip his ears.



Playing in the pasture, he had just arrived from Michigan down in North Carolina and had a lot of energy after the two day haul.



My friend, PrettyinPink, took this photo and I didn't know she was taking it. Had I known, I would have made him stand square! We just got done with a showmanship pivot - hence his hind leg being so crooked.

I think I was turning him tight to go in for a practice sliding stop, not sure why I'm collecting the reins so much!!



PrettyinPink riding him at a jog - she hadn't ridden in a LONG time, so she did really well!!



Java and I at the barn. I had just left the tack store so there's a plastic bag and treats by his stall door. I am still trying to figure out a good recipe to do a knock-off of Mrs. Pasture's Horse Cookies!! He loves those!

Beautiful coloring! He looks like he can't decide if he wants to be a palomino or a buckskin/dun! Best of both worlds then! Hehe! You two look great together!

He's colored a lot like a Fjord with the black and white in his mane.
I was actually at a show on Saturday and the judge asked me if he had paint in him (it was an open show at my barn) because of the white. I had NEVER heard that before!
