    Merit - 7 weeks old

Here's my little guy, Merit. He is starting to lose some of his baby fuzz in patches. He is shedding out a very dark steel gray and I'm seeing more white hairs every day. This will be the first gray I've gotten to watch change, pretty excited about that!

    He's cute!
And that's very exciting. I've never got to watch a grey grey-out before

OMG. I am such a sucker for those flippy little foal tails. Your guy does look a bit threadbare in that 2nd picture. :) He will be grey, like mom?

Thank you! We've raise a lot of foals over the years & this is the first gray. I can add new pics to this thread as he changes & share it :)

Me too! Yes, he's a bit threadbare lol! His chest is his favorite scratch spot & he does quite a bit of self service on anything that works when he doesn't have any of us 2 leggers around to do it for him :) He will be gray like mom, where he's shedding now is about the color of her hocks where she is still dark.

He looks to have excellent conformation. What a joy to watch babies grow up. I wish . . . .

OMG!!! He's so adorable. I love the nursing pic. My neighbor described her 4-yo Appaloosa/TB cross that way. She was the color of Merit and now she's a grey/white with black stockings and she's getting black leopard spots. She still has that coppery blaze down her face. I look forward to watching your little guy's coat progress as he grows.

Thank you Caroline! There's a couple things I could nit pick about his confo, but he's a baby & so much is subject to change. Overall I am very pleased with him and think my Lacey Lou did a pretty good job on her first foal. They are fun to watch grow up, nothing quite as entertaining as a romping stud colt in the pasture.

Thanks JLynn! I bet your neighbor's was cool to watch change, sounds like she has a pretty wild coat! Maybe she would let you share pics with us?
