Well, for those of you who saw my post back in Novemeber about the weanling I traded my mare for. Here is an update with pictures.
It was a very rough start. The day after Thanksgiving, I came out to find him down in the pasture. When I was finally able to get him up, he couldn't walk. Wouldn't put any weight at all on his front left leg. So I got him up to the barn and in a stall. I put pressure wraps on him. And he was on stall rest for 6 weeks. And I could only start hand walking him after 4 weeks. Imagine how fun to lead a baby confined in a 14x14 stall for 4 weeks
Turns out he bowed his tendon and pulled some ligaments in his ankle. After the 6 weeks, he could go back out to pasture for an hour a day with splint boots on.
Well he pulled through and is completly sound. No signs of his injuries even on xrays and ultrasounds.
So here he is, a year old.
He has so much natural ability. He can fly. Slide stop, spin and being going back where he had just come from in the blink of an eye. And God help a dog who gets in there. He works them like a cow. And when I pony him out in the cow pasture, he wants to go after them. And you wanna talk about smart. He learned to walk, trot, whoa loose in a round pen in 5 minutes
Needless to say, I can't wait to break him out and put him on cows.
Finally got his registration application sent in and got his papers back.
He is registered as: Meyer A Lil Fancy
Here is his pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.php?query_type=horse&horse=MEYER+A+LIL+FANCY &g=5&cellpadding=0&small_font=1&l
So here are some pictures. He is a year old and already 14H. Feel free to point out any flaws or critique anything you see. I didnt post in the critique section as there are not any "critque" photos.
These pictures are from March. He was 11 months old. Finn.jpg Finn3.jpg
