Mommy, take me with you!!!

So, I went up to the barn on my lunch hour to take Danny's 2nd blanket off after it FINALLY warmed up a bit today. Well, he follows me right into his stall through the dutch door whenever I show up at lunch, we hang out inside for a bit, then he follows me back out to the small pasture where him and his buddies spend their days. Today, after I opened his door to let him back out, he trotted across the paddock to the gate and blocked it! He wouldn't let me get through! After pushing him out of the way, I got sad face as I walked to my car. Of course I had to go back three more times to give him a kiss and say goodbye. This is what I saw the whole way down the driveway in my rear view mirror... I felt like a very bad mom...

Awe, what a cutie! Zeus can be the same way. I swear, they guilt trip you into coming back a few times for scratches and treats. But how can we resist those faces?! If I go to the barn and don't come get Zeus out right away he stands where I can see him and nickers at me until I come get him. Mind control I tell you. Ha ha.

I give myself very good advice, But I very seldom follow it

My mare gets upset when I am not right there with her. As I am the barn manager, I spend the morning feeding the horses, and filling and cleaning water buckets, and she throws a hissy fit the entire time she can see me if I'm not paying attention to her. And all heck breaks loose if I leave her in the turn out, and "disappear". I turned her out today while I was doing the waters, and she ran around the arena neighing in the general direction I had gone, or where ever she had a visual of me, until I came back to get her out. I then turned her out in the arena so she could actually run, (she was in the round pen first), and she ran around the arena bucking when I went to go fill up another bucket. And then of course when I went into the arena with her, she just wanted to be on top of me so I couldn't leave her again. I feel bad on the one hand, but on the other, its a bit annoying to have her so concerned when I'm not right there, as I don't want her doing something stupid and hurting herself. I truly do hate the sad faces that guilt us into more attention, loves, treats, ect. They can look so pitiful when they want to.

He's just as happy hanging out with his friends as he is with me, although he doesn't like to be alone and always wants attention from someone (person, horse, dog, cat, whatever). I'm sure he turned around and went right back to grazing with his buddies as soon as I was out of sight!

Hahahaha...it is the same thing with my horse. I went up yesterday to get a nice ride in cause it was sooo warm. We spent a long time together and actually did some jumping (which he loves). We worked on some tricks and back into his pasture he went. He wouldn't let me leave. He blocked the gate and kept giving me sad faces. He would put his nose right on my nose and breath into my nose. I would breath back into his nose and he would rub a little bit against me. He would lower his head as if to scratch his ears and face. When I would stop he would look up and give me the sad eyes. Hahaha....

It makes you feel good because you know you are doing something right with your horse because they are happy to see you and don't want you to leave.

I love the fact that his face just lights up when I walk up to the gate! I've never had a horse so happy to see me!
