Talking More Lacey and Lady? Um, yes!

So I "managed" (cuz, yknow, I hate taking pictures so much...hahaha) to get some more pictures of the girls today and well, I figured you guys would probably want to see them... ;)

Lady is turning out to be a bit of challenge in some areas but she's fantastic in other areas.

Lacey, on the other hand, is being an honest to goodness gem. I do not know what I would be doing without her right now. Even when Lady acts up right next to her, Lacey just steadily continues to follow "the rules". It makes me SO proud of her.
She's SUCH a good horse.
I know Lady'll end up being a good horse eventually (she really reminds me of how Lacey used to be, some ways) but for now, she's kind of a spoiled brat. lol!

Anyway, today, after a not so good session with Miss Lady this afternoon, Skyseternalangel had the idea that maybe free lunging the two of them together might help - Lacey knowing the cues might help the cues "click" in Lady's mind.
I'm not sure how much it helped that way but I can tell you that both girls LOVED it.
At first neither girl was super sure about what they were supposed to be doing but I started snapping the whip, Lacey's eyes basically lit up with recognition (she LOVES free lunging), and she came trotting, then cantering through the field. Lady followed like "Huh?" but pretty soon they were both super into it. Lady loved the idea that she was being ASKED to run! Who knew humans were that cool!!? She was throwing her head around, racing Lacey, and just generally looking super happy.

I kind of overestimated Lady's endurance though, she was covered in sweat by the end of 10 minutes (Lacey hadn't even broken a sweat!) however both girls were still "prancy" and willing to run so I think I didn't make Lady overdo it too badly.

Anyway, they had a really fun time!

"Hi there!"

Later in the day:

"Why do you pay so much attention to that youngster? Can't you see I'm SO much more deserving of your attentions?"

"FREEE LUNGING!!!!" (this was right after she realized what was going on - SO happy!)

Runnin' buddies

Lacey's ears...SO mad at being passed. LOL! You don't just pass Lacey when you're running, it's unacceptable. She WILL eat your soul as punishment.

Lacey- "Hiya! That was super fun, let's do it again!" Lady- "NO."

After they both got a treat, Lady seemed like she was ok with what had just transpired:

Big yawns...using the gate to support one's chin=how the cool kids do it

And then, from a couple weeks ago, a friend of mine came to take pictures of Lacey and I. I had bee waiting to post them until she got all the pictures edited but it's taking her longer than anticipated. So, since I just can't wait, here are two. :)

And, Lacey's true self was revealed by Photoshop. How handy!

Thanks for looking!

ETA- sorry about the super tiny pictures! It's fixed now!

Rest peacefully, Lacey.

Woohoo!!! I'm glad it worked out. Man lacey looks so so happy and the sequential pictures of the two of them running, you can see Lady beginning to relax a little and really "get it"

Lovely pictures!! :) I knew she was a unicorn ;)

Maggie, Lacey seemed really thrilled to be asked to "teach" her most favorite subject. That was a great idea. I think we may have to have more sessions. ;)
I'm really glad I gave it a try! She seemed so much less tightly wound and much more relaxed after she got to run around a bit. Maybe she's getting to the point in her recovery where more exercise would be beneficial - a tired creature is a well behaved creature, and all that.

Pretty much, Tiny! I wish that too. Maybe next time! This time I was having to snap the whip so much and my hands have a weird thing where they copy whatever the more dominant hand is doing, so any video would have been like we were in the middle of "The Big One" or out at sea...
They were really having fun. It was great to see.

Hah, thanks CLaPorte! And I'm glad! I have fun writing them. Lol!

Noooooo Roperchick! You cannot haz mah Lacey! :P She's the best though, really. It's ok to be jealous.
I know, right? She's put on so much weight for only being here nearly a week! I can't hardly believe it!! In, like, 3 weeks she's gonna be FAT. ;P
