More working cattle pix. :) (on Denny!!)

As most of you know, Dobe has been sidelined for a few days due to surgery. Well, anyway. Brother needed some help working the last pasture of cows/calves for the spring. I had no choice but to take Denny. Keep in mind that, up until recently, he had not been ridden in a couple of years. Even before that, he had only been roped off of a couple of times and had never drug calves a day in his life. He is one of those horses that has been ridden A LOT but never had any real training. I was a little concerned with how he would act with all those people moving around while a rope ran down his butt (especially with his people phobia) but he did amazing. The first couple, he was a little excitable but calmed down after about 5 and when he drug 2 in a row just the way that I wanted him to, I called it a day. It is always good to end on a good note.

Sorry for the whole novel......... enjoy the pix. :)

Sorting the cows and calves.

Squeezing the cows into the middle gates to de-worm them before turning them out. Sometimes Denny had to push them on in with his chest. :O

9 yo niece just learning how to rope. Not quite mastered roping off a horse just yet. :)

Brother giving her a suggestion or 2.

Her first catch. We wrestled him down and held him to work him. :)

Me and Denny's turn. Sorry for the picture overload.

This was my first catch and Denny got a little excited. He almost ran my leg into the side of the trailer before I turned around to see where I was going. Dobe has me spoiled. :)

Holding the slack while the calf gets worked.

Fishing just a little LOL.

He finally started to calm down a bit so this was my last calf to rope.

Dad dragging one out on Pokey while I waited with the Nordfork. (check out those butt muscles O.O)

Brother and I trying to get one on its side. It is not cooperating at all. LOL

Anyway. Sorry for the complete pic overload but I love doing it a just have to share my good times with everyone I can. I am just glad they missed the picture when one of the calves got me down and tried to step on me. LOL. *blushes* ;)

Thank you. He was a birthday present from me to Dad about 3 years ago. That is the first buckskin he has ridden since his #1 horse many years past. :)

Foal
Very nice! I am glad that Denny was a good boy! Starsky absolutely loves cows...when they are on the other side of the fence! He is still getting used to them being up close and personal.
