These pictures were taken on Saturday, 051510 by a friend. She got some pretty good ones! Gracie is just adorable, and I have to share. That face is just too cute to resist. Sorry they are a bit big. I am computer illiterate, I would have no idea how to resize them. O_O

What is the ring around her called? I've seen people use them but I'm not really sure what they are for! It doesn't look like you have anything attached to it? What does it do! Questions!
Yes, it is a surcingle. Typically, one would attach side reins to it that run from a ring on the surcingle to the bit, to encourage the horse to lower it's poll and work off it's hind end and also giving to pressure. Gracie isn't at that point yet, she's not even 2 yet. I use it so she learns she can move with something tight around her girth.
This is a mare I used to work with a few years ago, Anna, with "side-reins" although they were actually reins.
