My horse on his hind feet

Hello everybody,
I had always dreamed of being able to have my horse stand on his hind feet while I'm on his back.
Funnily enough, my horse was being very stubborn and refused to move forward and I insisted. My friend was taking a photo when suddenly my horse decided to stand and luckily he caught the photo at the right moment.
I am a beginner so don't laugh at me http://www.horseforum.com/images/smi...on_redface.gif
Here is the photo:

I nearly fell off when he was back on the ground because he put his head down near the ground trying to push me off his back.

Rearing is dangerous, unless the horse is a trained, trick animal. Your horse was telling you he wasn't happy.

You're going to get badly hurt if you don't get that horse some proper training.

Holy smokes. That looks incredibly dangerous, both you AND your horse could be seriously hurt. Your description of how you got your horse to rear made me wince. The photo shows a very unhappy horse and the amount of pressure you have on his/her mouth is frightening and saddening. More cringeing.

Please don't do this to your horse again.

Also I don't think the OP was trying to do this on purpose. I think it was supposed to be a joke, about how they wanted to teach them to one day and the horse read their mind!

Selena reads my mind sometimes. Little brat.

Except the OP seems to find the situation amusing rather than concerning.

I didn't get that impression, though I do have to say having a light heart prevents frustration which would be a much better way to look at this. My mare WAS rearer...Woudl get worse when I tried to correct it and got mad at her. The sooner I acted like it was nothing and fixed it quietly was the time when she didn't think it was fun anymore.

The OP lives in Lebanon. A rearing horse is not the most dangerous thing he has to deal with.

To the OP- there are right ways and wrong way to teach your horse to rear. If that is what you really want to do then you should find a book or DVD that shows you how to do it. Ideally you would find someone to help you "hands on" but if that's not possible then the book and DVD will get it done.
