Yes, you are Jelous! I know everyone here would just LOVE to have this fashionable, amazing hair style for your horse.
Forget those crappy braids for the fancy smansy show ring that take hours of hard work to perfect.
Forget having to put those itty bitty bands in or threads.
Forget having to pay top dollar for some horse-hair braider to come and work on your horse!
Go with the all natural look called 'OMG' Its an absolute head turner! It is quite fashionable in the tail too, tho, I didn't get a pic of that- I am sure you can use your imagination.
Anyone interested in wanting this hairstyle for your horse....
... you are crazy.
Took my an hour just to get that unicorn horn out- the bangs were wrapped around themselves several times. Mane from down her neck a little was even wrapped up in it.
Her tail- I didn't even touch yet. My fingers were too sore.
I am going to go out in the field and hack the burr bushes down.
All I could keep saying to her was OMG... She is kinda finicky with silly things and I think she didn't like how a good chunk of her mane was stuck together. She really stayed unbelievably still for removing them and kept her head very low ( I put ther around her neck)
it was a lot worse than the picture looks... mounds of burrs hidden inside mounts of burrs. Her tail probably has close to 100 burr in it. We took all burrs out 2 days ago... I felt bad leaving her tail, but my arms hurt and my fingers were so sore. Plus, when I was done with her mane, she was pretty much done of having burrs picked out.
I am dreading seeing her again...I know she will have more in her mane again.
I know where a bunch of the burrs are out in the field, so I am going to convince hubby to help hack at them.
One time I was curious how many were there in the mane - needless to say, I was too lazy to count!
But I pulled out 25 burrs out of the forelock on my mare last year
While I don't think I can top @SwissMiss Dude totally rocked this exact new in style do.
Just wanted to note that Dude doesn't regularly get turned out with a halter this was just while herd integration for the barn owner's preference for the first couple days.
@waresbear Lucky! Even the burrs I have are different than @SwissMiss picture. Mine don't really pierce skin but they are pointy. They fall apart shortly after pulling the hair out into little pieces.
what the heck IS the plant that produces these discusting things? I could have swore you were showing a plateful of dead cockroaches!
we have burrs, but they don't quite look like that. more round.
we have to put a lot of petroleum jelly in the hair, or other greasy substance, to work it out.
At the moment we are having a mix of still green ones (a little bit softer spikes) and the rock hard brown ones :icon_frown: No idea how you call the plant except %#%*^!bush
And yes, we use A LOT of greasy stuff at the moment too!
Thankfully we've managed to eradicate the burrs here, but somebody needs to do something about the wind----both our TWH mare and mini gelding are still sporting wind knots since my arms and fingers gave out doing the TWH gelding and mini mare.
OMG I am really hating them. I havent seen Zoe in a few days and I dread seeing her next- I know she is going to be covered with them. I'd braid her hair, but I cannot guarantee to be able to get to the stable the next day to take the braid out The only saving grace is the fence should be fixed, so mornings she will be in another field, but still goes in the field with the burs in the afternoon.
ehhhhh.... at least my b/f likes taking them out.
If there was ever a time I wanted to roach her hair... actually, I am thinking of cutting her a longer bridal path since I see longer bridal paths on arabians. This way, there won't be burs near where the bridal/halter lay on her to hurt when being brought in or out.
Glad to see sme other horses sport this hair do.... very fashionable, right?
Oh man....I feel for ya! I'm battling the burdock in my field. I think we managed to get all the plants in their flowering year before they started producing burrs, so I escaped having to deal with any of these lovely hair do's for this year. But there are SO many more plants to dig up next year! Endless!!
