But life wasnt always good for him.
He was born on the mainland, and was a proven stud with awesome Poco Bueno lines. At some point he was moved to maui and from maui he was moved to Oahu.
At the farm where he was rescued from they had him tied to a tree for YEARS by his back left leg and his neck. He was never let off of these ropes and when he was rescued the rope had embedded itself into his leg and neck.
Equine 808 got a call about him in 2007. He had been in a mudslide and was buried from his withers down in mud.

They dug him out and took him to the ranch. The rope had to be cut out of his back left leg and neck and he could not bear ANY weight on that leg. All 4 feet were severely overgrown and he had substantial nerve damage to that leg.
After two years of corrective shoeing, reiki, and soft tissue massage Champ was finally able to bear weight and was even rideable

He was adopted in 2009 to a little girl who loved him to death. Unfortunately she had to surrender him back in 2011 and he has been back at the ranch ever since.

I've fallen absolutely in love with this old man! B offered to give him to me for free, no adoption fee but right now that isnt an option. So we made a deal. I am going to take care of all his feed and farrier work and the rescue still takes care of any vet bills. While I sponsor him (on a very casual basis) if a family comes and decides to adopt him then he will go with them, because ultimately I just want him to have a good home. Then in Jan of 2014 if he is still there and I still want him, I still get him for free and B will help me get the rescues discount on shipping him back to the mainland. (about $1300 by plane with the discount about 700-900)
But for now well just enjoy life in hawaii haha
