My new horse Hero

Hello! I am new here - come on often though to check things out. I have been riding for 15 years on and off, and finally own my own horse.

I adopted him March 29th, he is still pretty scrawny and skinny.
Native Hero is his name - We call him Hiro because we are a "Heroes (NBC)" family.
15.2 Chestnut ottb 13 years young...

Here is his lovely pedigree not sure why he was dumped!
Native Hero Thoroughbred

When I was adopting him the "foster" owner you could say told me he was stalled for 6 years after his racing, and "supposedly" was trail ridden.

This photo was sent when I was interested in buying a horse

Here is photos when went to visit him before we was brought to our barn

Here our 2nd ride!

And last night after a nice groom - away from the thunderstorms with my phone camera

Thanks! I'm probably the only one at the barn who visits their horse everyday to just brush them!

What a cutie! He looks very happy. So glad he's with someone who will take good care of him. :) I can tell he'll be even more gorgeous once he fattens up and sheds out. Please keep us updated!

He's a very cute boy! Good luck with getting his weight up and giving him a new home. I'm happy to see horses retired to good homes and loving "moms" (or dads)

He may have been "retired" because he couldn't go fast enough... that is a general reason why a lot of race horses are "retired"

Actually his owner was loosing him to claiming races so he stopped racing him. Hero has some NICE bloodlines not sure why he was dumped in a stall for 6 years.....I think he won quit a few races
Here is one of them!

Oh really? Well it's too bad he was in a stall for that long, but I'm happy to hear that he didn't want his horse claimed. I know some people once they claim a horse and that horse is no good for them anymore (or making them money) they more than likely will sell them to the meat man :(

Thanks for the video! Always nice to see :)
