I guess that the pasterns are so flexible because he is so young. He was less than a day old in the photos. He is mixed breed. I don't think that it could be possible to trace down his breeding. His dam is mixed breed too and I don't even know who is the sire.

A lot of the foals I've seen are very down on the pasterns for the first few days. Typically it corrects itself pretty quickly.

He is SOOO adorable, and what a pretty color already! DEFINITELY a bay like mama.

Holy cow that boy is all legs. What a little darling, I am so glad that he and momma are getting good care now so that he has a chance to grow up right.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog:
