excuse the mud.. silly girl was filthy and covered! she needs a bath but it's still too chilly for that!
a few snapshots before my first ride.. she's 3 yrs old and hadn't been ridden yet this year (with the exception of the couple minutes the old owner jumped on her bareback to show me that she was at least somewhat broke)
had to go change to a shorter girth after I took these pics, couldn't get my saddle tight enough
she did good.. stood still while I mounted even though it took me a couple tries because the saddle wanted to roll. she was very quiet, walked around the round pen and was neck reining some and responding to verbal cues by the end of the ride
that's what I was told and looking at her teeth, that's about right.. they were unsure of the month/day she was born - the breeder was supposed to look it up and get it to me along with all info I will need to register her (can't be fully registered as a QP til she is 6 and it is for sure she will be under 58")
the halter they had on her was too small =( my halter fits and now that I know I can catch her, she is turned out without one on so hopefully the hair will lay back down soon
I don't stall my horses and they seem to like the muddiest areas to lay down and roll! I love my steel curries too, but the stuff on her back legs was horrible and solid mud.. we're supposed to have a few warm days next week so she will most likely get a bath to get all the nasty mud out
I thought the same thing. I would just let it out some until her winter fur is gone. She is cute though. Gizmo is the same color and lime green is out color. How is that pad? I was kinda looking at it but didn't know how the little bubblies were on it. It has some good reviews and some bad reviews.
Thanks =) As I said above, previous halter was too small for her (not dug into her face, just gave her funky nose hair) and mine fits her, but now that I know I can catch her (first few days as a precaution in case she got out or ran through the fence and let the lil ones out, everyone wore halters) she isn't wearing one
I LOVE the pad. I originally got it because every other pad I used when barrel racing would slip or force my saddle to slip forward. I never had a problem with that with this pad! Best part is after I'm done riding I can hose it down, and it's all clean for next time. After all the years of use, the only thing wrong with it is the nylon at the front is starting to come un-stitched but it's still very usable
I got mine from a local tack store about 8 years ago, Gizmo posted a link to an almost identical one though! Mine doesn't have the black patch on the sides though, it's lime green like woven mesh. That area is built up slightly as well.
